Gat-Joriz Alatiit, RM or simply “Nurse Joriz” of Ospital ng Biñan was an infection control nurse when he first attended HIV 101 and HCT Training. After the training, he pushed for and lobbied for the creation of a hospital HIV/AIDS Core Team. He was given the task of forming the HACT.
Nurse Joriz counseled around 2700 individuals from June 2015 to present being the only functioning HIV counselor in their hospital. Realizing that testing is not enough, with foresight he then requested for a doctor to be trained and assigned for HIV Treatment, which was granted by the HACT Chair and Hospital administration. In November 2016, Ospital ng Biñan started HIV treatment as a satellite of RITM. Following the rise of HIV infection in the Philippines, Ospital ng Biñan became a DOH Designated HIV Treatment Hub in January 2018, the first HIV Treatment Hub in Metro Laguna. The HACT of Ospital ng Biñan is the 1st rank in Region IV-A (CALABARZON) having the most number for detecting patients with HIV.
